Dodging the torrential rain, 15 intrepid Weekenders Members visited Kensington Palace on Sunday July 7th 2024. It was a fascinating tour of the state rooms, of former Kings and Queens, as well as the ‘childhood’ rooms of Queen Victoria with her huge Dolls house, oops Palace, toys and musical boxes. The Jewel Room was breathtaking, the dazzle of tiaras, and the opulence of the emeralds set, of tiara, necklace, earrings and broach. Outside everyone headed to the sunken garden and the statue of Princess Diana commissioned by her sons. A great day out, wonderful historical insight, fabulous gardens, well – stocked tearoom, and of course the gift shop for those souvenirs.
